(Celebes Museum was established in 1938 by the Netherlands Indies, now renamed the La Galigo Museum). Hosting a Replica of Bendera Macangnge (Macangnge Flag) of the Luwu Kingdom. One of the last remaining flags/symbolism representing the Kingdom from the 17th century, it is a rectangular flag made of white base satin and in the middle is the image of a tiger decorated with Arabic scripts. The arabic above the lion declares that 'this is a lion' whilst the script decorating the lion states a verse from the Quran. The flag was used widely by the Attoriolong, the military class. Note: The Luwu Kingdom reigned from 9th to 17th century. In 1603/?1605, Raja Luwu XV Andi Pataware embraced Islam brought by Muslim scholars from Sumatra, and adopted the name Sultan Muhammad Wali Mu’z’hir al–din. The flag presumably was used during the post-Islamic era.
