圣卡尼斯座堂

圣卡尼斯座堂(英语:St Canice's Cathedral)是位于爱尔兰共和国城市基尔肯尼的一座爱尔兰圣公会的教堂。教堂的历史可以追溯至13世纪,是爱尔兰历史第二悠久的座堂,仅次于都柏林圣派屈克大教堂

历史

基尔肯尼是古代奥索里英语Osraige王国的首都,教堂目前所在的位置自6世纪以来便有基督徒的存在。据推测,此处最早的教堂是木制的,后来在中世纪后期被一座罗曼式的石制教堂所取代,接著取而代之的才是现在这座圣卡尼斯座堂。现存的这座教堂本身的历史可以追溯至13世纪[1]

爱丽丝·吉蒂勒审巫案而闻名的奥索里主教英语Bishop of Ossory理查·德·雷里德所著的《奥索里红皮书英语Red Book of Ossory》现今被保存在这座教堂中。《奥索里红皮书》中收录了由雷里德主教所创作的六十首拉丁文赞美诗,根据书中所述,这些赞美诗是为了教堂的“牧师唱诗班”所写的[2]
