此双星系统由两颗主序星组成，一颗为黄白色的F型矮星，另一颗为黄色的G型矮星。两颗星的结合光谱型为F9V，结合视星等为+4.90。它们互相围绕着对方公转，周期为13天，轨道离心率为0.014。

尽管南三角座ζ在夜空中的位置在70° S，它依然属于大熊座移动星群。
