早年
波勒生于马萨诸塞州的牛顿(Newton, Massachusetts),而在同州的伯灵顿(Burlington)长大。她的父母亲都是教师,[1]而且她也是作家史蒂芬·金(Stephen King)和参议员斯科特·布朗(Scott Brown)的远房表亲。[2][3][4]她自小便被育成天主教徒。[1]

事业
《Upright Citizens Brigade》
波勒身在第二城喜剧团时,她参加了剧团的一部制作,Upright Citizens Brigade。她与三名同伴一直在芝加哥演出这部作品,直至1996年时迁到纽约市。[1]这部作品很快被电视台赏识,成为《康纳·欧布莱恩深夜秀》(Late Night with Conan O'Brien)的固定班底之一。1998年,电视台喜剧中心(Comedy Central)将这部作品制成30分钟的喜剧。这部剧集进入第二季时,波勒他们更有财力在纽约开了一处剧场,不但长期有作品上演,更开班教授他人写作喜剧剧本和进行即兴演出。[1]

《周六夜现场》
波勒的喜剧演出事业在加入了《周六夜现场》的剧组时更进一步。她首次参演的是九一一发生后的首集。在她参加的首个季度里,她被提拔成为剧组的固定人员,是《周六夜现场》开始以来第三位能如此迅速崛起的喜剧演员(另外两名分别是艾迪·墨菲和哈里·希勒)。[5]第30季开始,波勒与天娜·菲共同主持《周六夜现场》的"Weekend Updates",取代离开了剧组的吉米·法伦(Jimmy Fallon)。
翌年新季度时天娜·菲亦离开剧组,由西斯·梅耶斯(Seth Meyers)取代了她的位置,与波勒共同主持该环节。2008年,她获提名艾美奖喜剧类最佳女配角,[6]是首位获得此项提名的《周六夜现场》演员许多评论家都认为她胜算在望,不过最终还是输给《第二人生》(Samantha Who?)的珍·斯马特(Jean Smart)。翌年她再获同一提名,但再次落空,败于《灵指神探》(Pushing Daisies)的克里斯汀·肯诺维斯(Kristin Chenoweth)。
2008年《周六夜现场》第三十四季首播,波勒与天娜·菲分别扮成希拉里·克林顿(Hilary Clinton)和莎拉·佩林(Sarah Palin),评论家大赞两人的表现和对白。三十四季首播后不久,波勒因为怀孕而正式宣布离开《周六夜现场》的剧组。波勒诞子后也有短暂回归,并最后于季终获剧组的欢送。她离开了《周六夜现场》后,不时也会回到"Weekend Updates"客串,直到她主持了三十六季首集为止。
第三十六季的《周六夜现场》首集是由波勒主持,播映于2010年9月25日。稍后在《周六夜现场》的特别集《SNL的女人们》(Women of SNL)里,她亦有份参演。到了2011年12月10日吉米·法伦主持《周六夜现场》,波勒与天娜·菲一同再次客串"Weekend Updates",与吉米·法伦和西斯·梅耶斯比拼将一段新闻以搞笑形式说出。
《公园与游憩》
在2008年7月,娱乐杂志《综艺》(Variety)报导波勒与一部新剧的谈判进入最后阶段,定于翌年1月在星期四档期,设于同台喜剧《办公室》(The Office)之前正式播映。[7]同月21日,NBC正式宣布她演出的剧集称为《公园与游憩》,是一部独立喜剧,而非《办公室》的衍生剧。[8]剧中她饰演主角莱斯利·诺普(Leslie Knope),是印地安纳州一座虚构城市的公园管理部门(Parks Department)副主管。
剧集第一季最后在4月9日才首播,而且首季回响并不理想,但第二及三季开始嬴得评论家的赞赏,而NBC亦续订了第四季的《公园与游憩》。她更在2010及2011年两度获得艾美奖喜剧类最佳女主角的提名,不过分别落败于《护士当家》(Nurse Jackie)的艾迪·法可(Edie Falco)和《肥肥与胖胖》(Mike & Molly)的梅利莎·麦卡锡(Melissa McCarthy),亦取得2011年金球奖(Golden Globe Award)音乐或喜剧类最佳女主角的提名。波勒亦参与了《公园与游憩》的剧本写作,写了其中两集的剧本。
电影事业及其他工作

私人生活
波勒在2003年8月29日与FOX喜剧《发展受阻》(Arrested Development)主演威廉·阿纳特(Will Arnett)结婚,并客串该剧一个常设角色,是她丈夫剧中角色的妻子。她亦与丈夫一同演出多部电影,而她的丈夫亦有客串她的喜剧《公园与游憩》。
2008年10月25日,就在该星期的《周六夜现场》播映前几个小时,波勒生下她的儿子、首名孩子,阿奇博尔德·威廉·艾默森·“阿奇”·阿纳特(Archibald William Emerson "Archie" Arnett)。[15][16]两年后的8月6日,波勒生下第二位儿子,艾伯·占士·阿纳特(Abel James Arnett)。[16]
