赫爾曼·切爾諾夫
赫爾曼·切爾諾夫（英語：Herman Chernoff，1923年7月1日—）是一位美國應用數學家、統計學家和物理學家。他曾任伊利諾伊大學香檳分校、史丹佛大學和麻省理工學院的教授，目前是哈佛大學的名譽教授。 [1] [2]

早年生活和教育
赫爾曼·切爾諾夫在Townsend Harris 高中度過了他的高中生活[2] 。他的父母分別是波琳·切爾諾夫和馬克斯·切爾諾夫。他們家是俄國的猶太移民。在 1943 年，他獲得紐約城市學院數學學士學位[3]。於1945年在布朗大學研究生院，他獲得應用數學碩士學位，並於1948年在亞伯拉罕·沃爾德（Abraham Wald）的指導下獲得應用數學博士學位（Ph.D.）。 [3] [4]
