製備及性質

1,2-二碘乙烷可由乙烯單質反應得到:[3]

C2H4 + I2 ⇌ C2H4I2

1,2-二氯乙烷碘化鈉四丁基碘化銨的催化下於DMF中加熱,發生鹵素交換反應,得到1,2-二碘乙烷。[4]乙二醇氫碘酸加熱反應,也可得到該化合物。[5]

1,2-二碘乙烷在有機合成中主要用於二碘化釤二碘化鐿的製備:[6]

Sm + ICH2CH2I → SmI2 + H2C=CH2 (惰性氣氛、THF作為溶劑)
