加拿大法务部长
加拿大法务部长(英语:Solicitor General of Canada,直译:加拿大总事务律师;1966年前的该职位宜译作加拿大法律政策专员)是1892年至2005年加拿大政府的一个职位。该职位源于大英系统的法律政策专员(Solicitor General;如英格兰及威尔斯法律政策专员),最初被指定为协助司法部长暨检察总长的官员。它最初并非加拿大内阁的一个职位,但在1917年之后,担任法律政策专员的官员通常会宣誓加入加拿大枢密院并出席内阁会议。1966年,由于废除了之前的《法律政策专员法令》(Solicitor General Act),并通过了一项新的法规,设立了加拿大法务部(Ministry of the Solicitor General of Canada),由此设立了加拿大法务部长的职位(ministerial office of the Solicitor General of Canada)。《法务部法令》(Department of the Solicitor General Act)最终于1985年通过。[1]
近几十年来,该职位由负责法律政策转为负责管理监狱系统、皇家加拿大骑警、国家假释审裁委员会(National Parole Board)及其他与内部安全有关的事务。2003年,该职位改称为公众安全及应急准备部长(Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness),该部门现通称为加拿大公众安全部(Public Safety Canada),职权范围亦有所扩大。2005年,《法务部法令》被废除[1],法务部长一职由此正式取消。[2]
