製備
二溴乙炔可由1,1,2-三溴乙烯和氫氧化鉀反應得到，但這種方法容易引發爆炸。[1]乙炔和苯基鋰在−50 °C反應得到乙炔鋰，再與溴反應得到二溴乙炔。[2]
性質
二溴乙炔易爆，對空氣敏感。[3]它是澄清液體，帶有甜味，在空氣發煙並產生臭氧味。它具有催淚性。[1]
它可以在空氣中燃燒，發出紅色火焰並產生黑煙。它受熱爆炸並生成碳。和氧氣與水緩慢反應時，會生成草酸、氫溴酸和其它含溴物種。它和氫碘酸反應，生成二溴碘乙烯；和溴反應，生成四溴乙烯。[4]
