牛津逗號

英語書寫中,連續逗號(又稱牛津逗號哈佛逗號[1][2]是指在三個或更多的名詞中,在倒數第二個名詞之後添加逗號。例如有三個國家可能以這樣的方式寫下 "法國,義大利和西班牙"(France, Italy and Spain),此時沒有連續逗號,而當寫成 "法國,義大利,和西班牙"(France, Italy, and Spain)時,義大利後面那個逗號就是連續逗號[3][4][5]

人們對於是否要使用連續逗號有不同的看法,不同地區英語的用法也有所不同。英國英語對牛津逗號沒有強制要求, [6]而在美國英語中,牛津逗號比較常見,有時甚至要強制使用牛津逗號。[7]牛津風格手冊英語Hart's Rules就建議大家使用牛津逗號,而牛津逗號名稱也是來自於此。 [8]
